CEILIDH BAND and BARN DANCE
'Millrace'
Dance the night away with a traditional Ceilidh Band or barn dance. The
band members are talented musicians. The caller can cater for dancers
at any level of expertise, from the enthusiastto those of you who are
keen, or not so keen amateurs, initiating you gently into the dances or
keep the liveliest of you occupied!
Millrace
create an atmosphere that will make your guests
feel like dancing and turn this memorable occassion into the ' Party of
your life'!
Their repertoire includes a wide range of English, Scottish, Northumbrianand
& Irish dances.
There are several singers in the bandand they can happily intersperse
the dances with songs if desired.
The line up includes...
Alan Hewson
Alan provides the driving rhythm, & is regarded as one of England's
top bodhrán players. He also plays djembe, snare drum and bongos;
he also provides vocals on a range of traditional songs.
Derek Boothby
Derek is the engine room! Our senior member has been a dancer for many
years (folk and Morris), he plays accordion with Millrace & works
with the caller to get the best tunes for each dance.
Sue Hewson
Sue plays a 5 string electric and a French acoustic fiddle & English
concertina. She also drives the sound desk.
Georgina Reed
Georgina plays electric and acoustic fiddles, she is an accomplished and
very experienced violin teacher so if you want to learn….
And lastly a caller
Refreshments should be provided for the band, also a short break will
be required at intervals during the evening.
